Description

The 26th Toronto-Ottawa Heart Summit will be held on June 13-14, 2024.

Abstract submission deadline is May 10, 2024.

What you need to know to submit your abstract to this event :

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the content of your abstract may form part of a future patent application, please ensure the abstract title does not include specific details and notify aconley@ottawaheart.ca.

Abstracts must be submitted in English.

MAIN ABSTRACT INFORMATION

Abstract must be in PDF format. Please use Arial 12 font and include only the following:

TitleAuthors and affiliationsAbstract text (max 2,800 characters) - please do not include figures or tables

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR PRIZES (e.g., Best Oral Presentations or Best Posters, etc.), an abstract must be submitted and presented by the first author or co-first author. If an abstract is not eligible for prizes, it will not be rated at the Toronto-Ottawa Heart Summit.

Main abstract scoring criteria (/10):

Originality (/2.5)Design & methodology (/2.5)Supporting data (/2.5)Impact (/2.5)

An abstract score on a scale of 0-10 will be assigned, with 10 being "Outstanding". Up to 5 top-ranked abstracts will be selected for oral presentations for all themes.

RAPID FIRE ORAL PRESENTATIONS AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS

Abstracts selected for Poster Presentation:  Posters will be on display in the plenary room on June 14th. Poster presenters are expected to be at their poster during the designated poster judging period allowing conference delegates time to ask questions and to discuss content. Additional technical specifications, including dimensions, will be provided with acceptance letters.

Best Poster Award:  The person judged as preparing and delivering the best poster will receive an award of recognition. 

Posters displayed at the Conference will be judged by the Scientific Review Committee on June 14th during the Poster reception, with the best poster selected based on the following criteria:

Background provides appropriate contextPurpose/objectives are clearly statedDesign /methods/analyses are clear and appropriateResults and conclusions are sensibleClarity of presentation

Rapid Fire Oral Presentations:  Rapid Fire Oral Presentations will be selected by the Planning Committee.  This session will be held in the plenary room on Saturday, June 15th.  Each presenter will be allotted 2 minutes/2 slides to summarize his/her research followed by 3 minutes for questions. This format is expected to offer greater exposure to presenters, as well as give attendees a snapshot into the wide variety of research being conducted related to cardiovascular disease 

Best Rapid Fire Oral Presentation Award:  There will be an award for Best Rapid Fire Oral Presentation. The person judged as preparing and delivering the best Rapid Fire oral presentation will receive an award of recognition. Rapid Fire Oral Presentations will be judged by the Scientific Review Committee, based on the following criteria:

Background provides appropriate contextPurpose/objectives are clearly statedDesign/methods/analyses are clear and appropriateResults and conclusions are sensibleClarity of presentationPresenter stays within allotted time

The recipients will receive their award during the closing remarks on Saturday, June 15th.
